Throw your net on the right side
Good morning and welcome to another Service on the “Great Lord’s Day”, which is every day between Easter and Pentecost, also known as Eastertide. In this period we greet one another with the Paschal Greeting: “Christ is Risen! He is Risen Indeed! Hallelujah!”
We are into our second month of lockdown and the big story of the week was probably so subtle you might have missed it. Clever people at Oxford University have invented a genetic copy of a SARS-CoV-2 spike protein and inserted it into a weakened version of an adenovirus that causes chimpanzees a common cold. As seems to be the wont among virus namers, even the vaccine has a super catchy name that we will be sure to remember, “ChAdOx1 nCoV-19”. ChAdOx1 is the carrier virus and nCoV-19 is the fake protein spike. If this does become a mainstream vaccine, be sure to ask your GP for it by name!
